The next day as Anjel continued to familiarize herself with the layout of Appaloosa Plains, one thing she could not help but notice was that there were a lot (A LOT) of exotic birds just flying willy-nilly all over creation! She couldn't remember how often family had told her never to approach a wild animal because you just never knew what kinds of diseases and things they could pass on to you, but ... this Macaw looked "mostly harmless".
Known to old friends as having "more balls than brains", Anjel walked right up to the bird. Maybe she could make friends with it! Without even flinched, she squatted down and reached out to the colorful creature.
Much to her delight, the bird hopped right up on her arm! Anjel was a regular Dr. Doolittle! Perhaps having more balls than brains worked ... in some cases.
Very friendly and eager to please, Anjel decided that she would keep this bird that probably was no more wild than she was on a full moon. As she walked home with him, petting his pretty feathers and murmuring to him, she decided that she would call him "Woody". He wasn't a woodpecker, but that was neither here nor there!
Anjel had decided long before coming to Appaloosa Plains that she wanted to do something that she enjoyed in as far as a career went. Not sure what she wanted that career to be, she wandered down to City Hall and registered as "Self-Employed" - she would be an Angler until such a time as she decided that she could put her smarts, patience and impeccable timing to better use. Boy ... the certainly grew gold fish BIG around these parts!
Look Boss! De Plane! De Plane! High above, Anjel caught sight of a jumbo jet heading to parts unknown. She wondered briefly (as she felt a tug on her fishing line) if it was heading to Egypt ... or maybe France ... or perhaps China! Some day ... perhaps she would find out for herself.
One of the many things that Anjel found comforting about Appaloosa Plains, and her desire to own as many animals as she could possibly handle, was that the town catered to animals lovers. There were veterinarian offices, pet supply stores, pet adoption agencies, and all manner of things like that around town. It was great. She had no idea that such places existed ... until she received the summons from her Great Aunt's lawyer. Small blessings!
Having fished late into the evening, Anjel was quite surprised that she found another not-so-wild bird hanging about near her home as she headed in that general direction. This one - a Nut Hatch!
If anything, this bird was even more friendly than Woody ... if that were even possible. In most of the bird books that Anjel had perused in her day, she could not recall ever seeing any mention of a Nut Hatch hoping up on someone's arm and shoulders without fear. Most small birds fluttered away when sims approached them.
Not that this little guy in any way resembled a Crow or a Raven, she decided to name him "Poe". Her animal menagerie was off to a fantastic start! Two birds already!
It was a good thing that bird cages were on sale! Granted ... Anjel found it odd that only one bird could fit into such a huge cage. But then again, would a Macaw and a Nut Hatch truly get along inside of the same living quarters? Hmm ... perhaps when she had a bit more money, she would buy something more appropriate for Woody and put Poe inside the cage. Yeah ... that was probably a wise idea.

A macaw named Woody? *giggles* Glad she didn't get bit, approaching a wild bird.
And welcome Poe to the family (despite not being a raven or crow). Anjel's getting lucky with the friendly birds!
So where is Poe right now? Just flying around the house?
Glad Anjels' settling in nicely to her new life. :)
